To those who never read/watched Candy Candy - George wasn't always the skilful businessman and Albert's trusted man as we know him. He did have his dark past; as a very young boy he was a thief. His life had changed when he was trying to rob Mr. Andrew (Albert's father). The man, instead of giving him away to the police, decided to take care of him and this is how George was taken into the Andrew family (not adopted).
